any ideas please?

hi, im currently having what sounds like an electrical problem with my R reg V40TD. i cant get any lights whatsoever on the dash, but the internal lights come on and the alarm still works well. i have checked all the fuses in the box in the engine and the box under the steering column all of which are intact. if my battery was flat id still get dash lights and my alarm wouldnt work right? so im assuming its an electrical/ ignition fault. id be very grateful if anyone could help me out here. andy :)

Check you have not accidentaly moved your dash light dimmer to its lowest position before you check anything else, my friend done this and was pulling his hair out trying to fix it, I sat in his car and 'fixed' it in two seconds.

Most likely the feed to the ignition switch , a white wire has corroded in the loom under the radiator .

Is there any feed to the ignition switch?

you will have to be more specific on what works and what doesnt work , could still be one of those wires in the loom under the radiator ...

I cant really talk about anything without a wiring diagram , but if there IS feed to the ignition switch and it is going back out then next in line is the fuse box in the car above the acelerator pedal ... There are some relays in there , perhaps one is faulty .. Have you checked each fuse each side in turn on the test points with a test lamp with the ignition on ?
