Hi all, Am preparing a 242 for hill climbing and im now looking for an FIA approved roll cage, does anyone know where i could find one? A 244 cage will do just fine. Even if someone had measurements for one or the group A 242 cage then im sure i could get it made up to FIA spec?? Thanks in advance, Ben

Try getting in touch with David Gillanders at Gillanders Motors in Peterhead. He used to rally and race with a volvo. If nothing else he may be able to put you on to the right people.Good luck.

We built our own cage for our 242 rally car. Provided that you build it to the R.A.C.M.S.A. Blue Book regs, it is fine. You must use a certified welder and the correct guage of pipe(we could only find it at a steel merchants in London). We got in a R.A.C.M.S.A. scrutineer out prior to finishing, in case we needed to do anything apart from what we had done, and before log booking the car. All was OK. For our own part we are searching for lightweight bodypanels. The suppliers in Scandanavia seem to be hard going, and the quality might be suspect. We converted the car to R.H.D., so also had a 2.5 turn wquick rack made for it.
