Hi, I cannot say for certain on the V70R but I would say a definite yes there should be. I recently changed my actuator and didn't refit my heat shield, went for a few miles drive and when I got back and opened the bonnet the heat in the surrounding fixtures was pretty bad, even the brake master cylinder reservoir was hot....I fitted the shield straight back on as soon as it had cooled down a little and wont be running without a shield again. Hope this helps, Paul.
